If you haven’t heard about these guys yet, you will soon. Arm the Angles is a fresh, local band that was nominated last year for “Best Rock Band” at the San Diego Music Awards. Since performing with Good Charlotte last August, these guys are making noise in the music scene nationwide. We sat down with their front-man Arnie, to learn more about Arm the Angels and their new album about to hit the streets.

Most Recognized Song: Our first album just came out on April 18th called “Haunt This Town”, so not quite sure which song will be the most recognized yet.
Favorite happy hour: Lot 81 off West Morena Blvd. (right next to Brick by Brick)
Favorite hang-out: At my house writing songs. Lame huh?
Best place for live music in San Diego: I've always liked the Belly Up Tavern for the sound and Canes in Mission Beach for the atmosphere.
Something only a local would know about San Diego: The Margaritas taste better here.
Your first album is coming out, tell me about it: We actually released a full length last month titled “Haunt This Town”. There are 12 rocking tracks that everyone can enjoy.
How would you describe your sound without refer to other bands?
Catchy riffs, harmonies and solid rhythm to a darker side of rock that will have you singing along by the end of every track.
Who are your biggest influences?
I am into everything from The Beatles, Muse to Zeppelin, The Police, you name it.
How'd you come up with your name, Arm the Angels?
I just liked the idea or vision of Angels having power whether it’s arming them physically or poetically. It also makes for cool T-Shirts!
What do you write about in your songs and who typically writes the lyrics?
I write about things that have happened to me in life from relationships to how I feel on any given day. Sometimes I write about things that happened 5 or so years in the past that resurface. Sometimes I write about a combination of things I am feeling at one certain point in my life. The words in a song should always take the listener on some kind of journey.
Where are you hoping to be in five years?
Making a living playing music that I love and touring the world with my best friends.
Favorite place to perform in San Diego:
I really enjoy playing at Belly Up for some reason. It just always has great sound there.
Canes is great too and 4th & B comes in 3rd.
What's the best memory as a group?
Hanging in there and getting an album out after nearly a year of recording off and on.
Finally getting the product in our hands as well as listeners!
What is touring like?
Touring is Ramen & Bologna Sandwiches. Mmm. All joking aside touring is doing what you love, creating lifetime memories and lifelong friends!
Any great stories from being on the road?
Aside from the wedgies and Cheez-It sandwiches; we have met so many cool people and bands on the road that just want to help out along the way. It's rough out there and it's always nice to meet good people.
What are your groupies like?
H.O.T.
Do you have any future tour plans scheduled?
We will be touring in mid-summer across the U.S.
Keep informed of upcoming Arm the Angels shows on ArmtheAngels.com!
